Addison is 4!
May 21, 2013

Addison is now four years old.  Where did the time go?  She was so happy about turning four.  Ever since Mackenzie turned four (last November), all Addison wanted to be was the same as her big sister.

All morning long she kept asking me, "Am I four today?", "Am I four now?", "Am I really four?".  It was so cute, especially when I answered, "Yes!" - she would smile that big, pure joy smile that I love to see.

She had a wonderful birthday party with so many great friends and loved opening all her gifts (many princess-related, which are her favorite things right now).

Happy Birthday, my sweet daughter, I will love you forever and ever.

We cannot and will not ever forget her birth family who I know, without a doubt, are thinking of her today.  We wish we could tell them thank you for giving us such a gift. I came across this letter a few months ago, and even though I can't take credit for writing it, it summarizes perfectly how I feel.

To the birth mother of my daughter,

Our lives are so far distant from each other.  It’s as if neither of us exists.  I will never know you even though you have given birth to her.  My daughter may never know you, as well.  But I want you to know, I will guard her like a lion.  I will raise her with love.  I will protect her from the wounds of loneliness.  She’ll be a child of two lands and she will wear that knowledge with pride.  And at night, we will call to you on the wind and perhaps, you will hear us and know she is safe.
